Wild Rock Outfitters

www.wildrock.net

Wild Rock Outfitters, an outdoor gear retailer, has a firmly established local presence, but the pandemic highlighted the need to bring the store online. In collaboration with the team at Birchbark Media, I built the new website using Shopify, but the ecommerce functionality was only the beginning. We also integrated essential features such as an extensive blog, dedicated pages for their bike shop service department, details on community support initiatives, an events listing, and a local cycling routes resource. Beyond the initial build, I continued to provide regular monthly and seasonal updates.

Project features:

  • Shopify

  • Responsive design

  • Events & blog integrations

  • Search Engine Optimization

  • Content updates

Open Sky Stories

openskystories.com

Author Erica Richmond was looking for a website refresh, including several new pages, and regular website maintenance services. I worked with the original design of the site to bring fresh energy and aesthetic improvements more in line with the vibrancy of the brand. Together we also worked on improved navigation, a better flow to the ecommerce content and a range of technical and SEO improvements.

  • WordPress CMS

  • WooCommerce integration

  • Search Engine Optimization

  • Website maintenance

Health With Jill

Oh hey, that’s me! That’s right, I used to write a health and recipe blog (if you read my About page, you already know this). Health With Jill was all about helping moms and families build a vibrant, joyful life with weekly menus, incredible (but easy) recipes, lifestyle tips, and a healthy dose of life-with-kids-realism. Built on Squarespace, the website featured an extensive blog, recipe posts, and pages outlining health coaching services.

Project features:

  • Squarespace CMS

  • Responsive design

  • Search Engine Optimization

  • Website maintenance

  • Content creation (copywriting, recipe creation, food photography)

Wild Rock Travel

Wild Rock Travel was the cycling travel and tour division of Wild Rock Outfitters, a local outdoor gear retailer. In collaboration with the team at Birchbark Media, I took over building out the travel site. Clients booking cycling trips need a ton of details, and the website had to be able to answer all their questions, objections, and then some! I built pages highlighting each destination the business travelled to; the details for each trip; detailed information about travelling with a bike (how to pack, insurance, booking tips); profiles of the tour guides; and a robust blog filled with inspiring stories from the staff’s own cycling adventures abroad. My work included everything from creating a sitemap, designing pages, sourcing images, and copywriting. Unfortunately, Wild Rock no longer offers overseas travel, but their incredible commitment to helping folks create memorable experiences outdoors remains. It was a pleasure to work with the team on this project.
